The move means the London breakfast presenters will go up against regional Heart breakfast presenters on digital #radio, as local Heart stations continue to broadcast on DAB. *The station will play non-stop music 9am till 7pm then simulcast Heart.
Ashley Tabor, Global’s founder & executive president, said: “Today’s announcement marks another important step for Global and for Digital radio. Heart extra will bring even more of the nation’s most popular #commercial radio brand to audiences right across the UK on the D1 platform.
“Our strategy of brand extension and investment in building audiences on national DAB is very clear. We’re driving digital radio take up and more and more of our listeners are enjoying our radio stations on DAB than ever before.”
Gary Stein, Heart’s managing editor, said: “We know our listeners love the feel good music they hear on Heart and now they can listen to even more hits and ‘more music variety’ on Heart extra. Heart is the biggest commercial radio brand in the UK and we’re excited about taking this next step to make it even bigger and better.”
In my opinion they need to get Gold onto D1 natinal first and maybe get more presenters on Gold and I think that could be really successfull for them. What next Smooth TV? Maybe
